This Chex mix will start a party — even if it's a party of one! Made with Barnacle's Food's Kelp Furikake spice mix. Made with a blend of dried kelp, toasted sesame seeds, bonito flakes, and a dash of sugar this spice mix gives instant richness to any dish. We think it adds a pinch of fun to this umami packed party mix recipe.

Furikake Chex Mix

6 oz Rice Chex cereal (half a 12 oz box)
6 oz Corn Chex cereal (half a 12 oz box)
2 cups Cheerios Cereal (sub in Honey Nut Cheeries for a salty sweet kick!)
2 cups Baked cheese crackers (such as Goldfish or Cheez-its)
 2 cups mini pretzels
 1 cup roasted peanuts
 ½ cup butter
 ½ cup agave or honey
¼ cup Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil - we recommend our Mediterranean Blend
  cup brown sugar
 2 tbsp soy sauce
 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
 pinch of kosher salt
1 jar of Barnacle Foods Furikake

Preheat the oven to 250°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a pot over medium-low heat, combine the butter agave or honey, Colavita olive oil, sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and salt, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved and the butter is melted. Remove from heat.

In a very large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Mix well.

Add the syrup to the dry ingredients and toss well. Make sure everything is well coated. Then add the furikake seasoning and toss until everything is evenly coated.

Transfer to the prepared baking pans and bake for about an hour, giving the ingredients a stir about half way through the baking process. Remove from oven and cool completely on racks. Store in an airtight container.
