Orange zest and chocolate perfectly compliment each other in these baked donuts. Colavita Olive Oil gives them a moist texture and fruity flavor!

Chocolate Dipped Orange Olive Oil Donuts

For the Donuts:
 1 cup flour
 1/2 tsp baking powder
 1/2 tsp baking soda
 1/2 tsp salt
 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
 zest of 1 orange
 1/4 cup buttermilk
 1/4 cup plain yogurt, any fat %
 1/4 cup Colavita Extra Virgin or Pure Olive Oil
 1 egg
 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Dip:
 2 Perugina 51% Dark Chocolate Bars

Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl to combine.

In a separate bowl, mix together all of the wet ingredients.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix well.

Oil a donut pan with Colavita Olive Oil.

Spoon or pipe the mixture into the donut pan.

Bake at 350˚F for 10-12 minutes.

Remove from the oven and cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Remove and place on a cooling rack to cool completely.

Break the chocolate bars into squares.

Melt half the chocolate in a double boiler over low heat. Alternatively, you can place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt at 15 second intervals, stirring in between each interval.

Add the unmelted chocolate to the melted and stir until it is all melted.

Dip the cooled donuts, face-down, into the melted chocolate. Place the dipped donuts on a piece of parchment paper to collect the chocolate run-off.

Allow to cool at room temperature for 10 minutes. Serve!
