This recipe for Apple and Sausage pizza is perfect for fall. Crisp sweet apples pair perfectly with savory sausage and cheddar cheese for this incredibly satisfying and easy pizza.
Heat your oven to 500°F. If you’re using a pizza stone, allow the stone to heat up in the oven for 30 minutes before baking on it.
While the oven is heating, cook the sausage. Heat 2 tbsp Colavita olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Remove the sausage from the casings and add to the pan. Sauté until cooked through, breaking up the sausage as it cooks with a wooden spoon or heat resistant spatula so that you have very small pieces.
Stretch out your dough onto a pizza peel dusted with flour. If you don’t have a peel and stone, use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Oil the parchment with a little Colavita Olive Oil so your pizza doesn’t stick.
Sprinkle a thin layer of cheddar cheese on top of the stretched out dough.
Distribute the sausage and apple slices over the top of the cheese.
Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with 1 tbsp Colavita Olive Oil.
Slide your pizza into the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, until the crust is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh thyme.
