Scare your party guests with this spooky Halloween "bat and eyeball" pasta dish! It's both festive and delicious, and will make a great addition to your party menu.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once it is boiling, salt it generously, and add the Colavita Bow Ties to the pot. Cook according to package instructions and then drain.
Add 2 tbsp of water to each ziploc freezer bag.
Add a few squeezes of orange food coloring to one bag, and a few squeezes of black food coloring to the other. Mix them with the water.
Add half the cooked pasta to the “orange” bag, and the other half to the “black” bag. Seal the bags and shake them so that the pasta turns color. Make sure it is evenly coated.
Once the pasta has been colored, remove it from the plastic bags and place it on the lined baking sheets. Allow it to dry for 5-10 minutes. This will ensure that the food coloring adheres to the pasta and not other things!
Once it has dried, place the past in a bowl. You can make individual servings, or one large platter.
With a knife, cut small indentations out of the mozzarella balls and place ½ of a black olive into the indentation. This will make it look like a eye ball! Repeat with the remaining cheese and olives.
Place the olive and cheese “eyes” into the bowl of pasta, distributing them evenly throughout.
Drizzle with Colavita EVOO, if desired and serve!
